Omission mismatch negativity of speech sounds reveals a functionally impaired temporal window of integration in schizophrenia

چکیده

We hypothesized that sensory memory associated with the temporal window of integration (TWI) would be impaired in patients schizophrenia, an issue had not been evaluated using omission mismatch negativity (MMN) complex speech sounds. aimed to assess functional changes auditory TWI schizophrenia by investigating effect stimuli on MMN. In total, 17 and 15 control individuals participated study. The MMN response deviants sounds was recorded, while participants were instructed ignore series latency significantly prolonged deviant omissions corresponding early late parts TWI. There no significant group differences amplitude at different time points across Our results suggested tracing function is later half showed certain abnormalities may caused

Properties of Auditory Temporal Integration Revealed by Mismatch Negativity

The mismatch negativity (MMN), a component of event–related potentials (ERP), was recorded to investigate the properties of the storage of auditory temporal sequences in the sensory memory. First, the MMN elicited by the infrequent change in a pair of closely spaced tones was evaluated. In ignored condition, it was shown that the MMN was elicited only when the total duration of the tone pair wa...

Impaired duration mismatch negativity in developmental dyslexia.

A mismatch negativity event-related potential protocol was administered to dyslexic children and their respective controls to test whether a specific auditory deficit concerning phonetic processing or a lower level auditory processing deficit was present in developmental dyslexia. Three different contrast conditions were explored, including nonphonological sounds, contrasted in pitch and durati...

[Mismatch Negativity (MMN) and schizophrenia: a revision].

The Mismatch Negativity (MMN) is an auditory Event- Related Potential which is generated as an automatic cerebral response to any change in the auditory stimulation that exceeds a limit corresponding to the discrimination threshold. It has been widely and consistently reported that patients with recent and chronic schizophrenia display smaller MMN amplitudes, suggesting that this component may ...

Mismatch negativity in chronic schizophrenia and first-episode schizophrenia.

BACKGROUND Mismatch negativity (MMN) is an event-related brain potential that is sensitive to stimulus deviation from a repetitive pattern. The MMN is thought primarily to reflect the activity of sensory memory, with, at most, moderate influences of higher-level cognitive processes, such as attention. The MMN is reported to be reduced in patients with chronic schizophrenia. However, it is unkno...

Temporal window of integration in auditory-visual speech perception.

Forty-three normal hearing participants were tested in two experiments, which focused on temporal coincidence in auditory visual (AV) speech perception. In these experiments, audio recordings of/pa/and/ba/were dubbed onto video recordings of /ba/or/ga/, respectively (ApVk, AbVg), to produce the illusory "fusion" percepts /ta/, or /da/ [McGurk, H., & McDonald, J. (1976). Hearing lips and seeing ...
